Roger David Michaud moved to Florida with his parents, Roger Sr. and Rosemarie Michaud, in 1985 at the age of 10, and has lived in the Town of Lake Park for 34 years. As a child, Roger was a student at our very own public school, Lake Park Elementary, and later attended Howell L. Watkins Middle School, Palm Beach Gardens High School, and Palm Beach State College. Since moving to Lake Park, he has only spent four years outside of the Town, which not only makes him a local, but a true hometown kid. His roots are so strong that now Roger and his wife, Charity Darling-Michaud, live in – and raised their two children (Jordyn and Trenten) in – the home he grew up in as a child. His mother lives next door.

Roger has long been an active volunteer in the Lake Park community, serving as a member of the Lake Park Kiwanis Club, Lake Park Public Library Advisory Board, and Lake Park Planning & Zoning Board. Currently, he is a member of the Friends of the Lake Park Public Library Inc., Bethlehem Community Empowerment Center Inc., and the Lake Park Centennial Committee, and represents the Town of Lake Park on the North Region Community Advisory Board for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the Palm Beach County League of Cities, Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce, and the Palm Beach County School Advisory Boundary Committee.

Roger Michaud was elected to the Lake Park Commission in 2017, and was subsequently reelected in 2019 and 2022, receiving the largest number of votes in both the 2019 and 2022 elections. During his tenure as Commissioner he has been instrumental in the Commission’s decisions behind the redevelopment in Lake Park; the installation of technology that has helped to enhance security and reduce crime; the implementation of low-impact green infrastructure stormwater solutions; and the creation of a future public-private partnership for the enhancement of the Lake Park Marina. The interest in redevelopment is clearly visible in the construction of the Nautilus 220 project located next to the Lake Park Harbor Marina.

Mayor Michaud made history during the Town of Lake Park’s centennial anniversary year by becoming the first minority and Haitian-American to ever hold that office in the Town. This represents a milestone for the Town of Lake Park, a diverse minority-majority community, and an accomplishment that has humbled and honored Mayor Michaud, a child of a wonderful and unique town who now is a reflection of the community he serves.

Mayor Michaud is employed by the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser, where he has worked for more than two decades. In his spare time, he is a devoted family man who loves dogs, music, the outdoors and biking, as well as playing and watching all sports, especially basketball and football.
