Due to COVID-19 the use of computers and internet is limited. Please call the Lake Park Public Library for information. 561-881-3330.

Computers

The Lake Park Library is equipped with internet-accessible terminals for patron use. The Library is also a WiFi Hotspot and welcomes laptop users.

Internet Policy

Internet terminals are provided to Library patrons for the purpose of accessing information and reference resources.

In order to allow all eligible patrons an opportunity to use the equipment and to keep track of the number of users, patrons are asked to comply with sign-in procedures and time limitations.

Because work stations are not private, users are asked to be considerate of other patrons and refrain from displaying materials that might be considered objectionable. In accordance with Florida Statutes, Chapters 847.011 (1) a and 847.0133 (1), displaying obscene materials to minors or printing such materials is a violation of the law and could result in penalties up to and including imprisonment.
Violation of Florida Statutes, Chapters 847.011 (1) a and 847.0133 (1), is a breach of our Library's Code of Behavior.

Internet use shall be conducted in a manner consistent with the Library's Code of Behavior. Misuse of Library computers will result in the loss of computer privileges, potential loss of Library privileges and possible prosecution. Such misuse includes, but is not limited to: damaging or altering computer equipment or software, downloading or installing any program on the hard drive of any computer or sending, displaying or printing obscene materials.

  1. To be eligible to use the internet computers, an individual must:

    1. Have a valid Lake Park Library card or current picture id with no outstanding fines or unreturned overdue materials.

The Lake Park Library has no control over the information accessed through the internet and cannot be held responsible for its content. As with other Library materials, restriction of a child's access to the internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian.

  2. Patrons wishing to use the Internet must show their valid Lake Park Library card or current picture identification to a staff member and sign the computer sign-in sheet. Use is on a first come, first served basis, and there is a 20 minute limit per person if anyone is waiting.

  3. Library staff are available to answer questions and assist patrons with technical issues, but are not available to teach patrons how to use the internet.
